So I called Joico customer support and spoke with a woman on the phone who advised me not to use this product (because it is made for semi permanent hair color and my color was permanent) but I went ahead and used it anyway. I explained to her that I have naturally light blonde hair, like a 10N. About 3-4 months ago I went to a salon that dyed my hair a very dark brown, almost black color.
I mixed 2 packages of this product with 176 ml of 20 developer.
After about 10 minutes, my roots lifted to their natural color. However, the rest of my hair did not lighten much. My guess for this would be because I have such thin and fine hair that it really soaked up the dark pigment. After the full 30 minutes, about 80% of the color is gone and has lightened to a light brown or dark dirty blonde color. There still are stripes of dark brown color that have not lightened, which is why I am going to wait a few days before repeating the process either with water this time or 20 developer plus Olaplex to dilute the solution.
In the end, my hair is much more dry than it was before using this product. I rinsed out this mixture and followed with shampoo and a deep conditioning mask by Amika.
Would I recommend this product? If you have healthy hair already, yes! But you will need a trim after using this product.
